Allow Me To (re)Introduce Us: Your Commercial Flooring Experts
Corridor Flooring Associates was established in 1992 by Glenn Nasteff, with the help of Paul Tormey, true OG’s of the flooring business. We were able to sit down with the legend himself to get a bit of history, and also to see where things are headed for the future:
Interviewer: | Tell us a little bit about the humble beginnings of Corridor Flooring Associates |
Glenn: | CFA (Corridor Flooring Associates) was founded in 1992. Paul was instrumental with the initial startup. We needed the both of us working, selling, and even installing to make a go of it. It wouldn’t have happened without him. |
Interviewer: | So, Glenn, why Flooring? |
Glenn: | A friend got me started as an installer. I’ve been associated with pretty much every aspect of flooring since 1971. |
Interviewer: | Where did the idea for the name “Corridor Flooring Associates” originate? |
Glenn: | Back in the late 80’s and 90’s there were big plans to develop and grow the Baltimore/Washington 95 corridor. Thus, Corridor Flooring Associates. A good portion of our business back then was in the DC area. Also, I’ve always liked the term “Associates” as opposed to “Employees”. It makes everyone equal I believe. |
Interviewer: | How has the industry changed over the years? |
Glenn: | The industry and the key players have changed dramatically over the years. There were probably over 75 manufacturers back then, and now they have been swallowed up by the big “super companies”. Also, there were more local corporate companies in our area. It made for a more personal and mutually rewarding customer/client atmosphere. Commercial dealers like us were looked upon for flooring advice and not just the cheapest competitive price. |
Interviewer: | What has been the greatest accomplishment for CFA? |
Glenn: | Surviving 30 years is an accomplishment itself. Adjusting and rolling with the times seemed to come easy for us. Keeping it simple and manageable, and deferring the mega projects to others. |
Interviewer: | Tell us, how is retirement going? |
Glenn: | Retirement is going just fine. I get to see my kids and their families grow, and I’ve got so much to do. |
Interviewer: | How do you see the current CFA team carrying out your legacy? |
Glenn: | My only legacy is longevity. The new regime is much savvier in this new technical age than I ever dreamed. I’m in awe of what they have accomplished so quickly and can’t wait to see what they come up with next. They make it exciting again, but in ways that are just over my head. It’s a whole new business world out there. The recent pandemic has set our industry on its ear, but I can already see that the CFA team is adapting, consolidating, and embracing the challenge ahead. I love it! |
Today our in-house team consists of Jennie Nasteff (CFA’s Matriarch, keeping us ALL straight!), Anthony Drankiewicz (our fearless leader on the inside) and Brianne Drankiewicz (the brains of the operation), Michael Nasteff (keeping our finances straight), Nick Nasteff (cleaning floors with his wizardry), George Schisler and Tammy Coyle (Corridor’s top sales dynamos), Amber White (master product selector), and last but certainly not least, Jim Knapp & Rob Walsh (our warehouse aficionados).
As you can see, we have maintained the same small, family run model that was instituted by Mr. Glenn Nasteff himself. Our core values remain the same. Integrity, Loyalty, Honesty. These are the cornerstones that allow us to build and maintain excellent working relationships with our clients. We pride ourselves on making your flooring project as straightforward as possible. You may ask, how do we do this?
A commercial flooring project, whether new or a replacement of existing flooring, can be daunting. There are many sitespecific factors to take into consideration, not to mention the thousands of flooring options to choose from. Carpet? LVT? Sheet Vinyl? Ceramic? Hardwood? Pizza? Ok, I threw that last one in there for fun. Your brain can get overwhelmed in a hurry with so many commercial flooring options. Let’s not forget budget, which everyone has. Some other considerations include amount of foot traffic, planned maintenance, color, warranty, sound absorption, etc. The choice you make for your floorcoverings really is a weighty and critical decision. Corridor Flooring can help! Think of it this way- if you need a medication for an ailment, you go to a doctor to prescribe you the correct treatment, right? Just think of us as flooring “doctors”! We will do a thorough examination of your space, ask questions, determine expectations, identify potential concerns, and then “prescribe” the recommended flooring product(s). We stay up to date with the latest trends and progressions in the industry, so that you don’t have to.
What is important to your organization? If quality, attention to detail, and a personalized approach are on your list, we would love to assist you with your next flooring project. No job is too small, either, as sometimes those seemingly minor issues can be the biggest hassle. Feel free to contact any one of us, as we truly care about the long-term outcome of your commercial flooring project.
So here we are, eager to embark on this journey into our fourth decade. Welcome to the next generation of Corridor Flooring Associates.
